The French writer Jean De La Bruyere once said, “The giving is the hardest part; what does it cost to add a smile?”

Gainesville Lodge #41 and E.R. Rowe, Sr. Lodge #374 have brought smiles to the faces of one needy Gainesville family.

In late November, the needy family contacted both lodges about the Christmas season. The mother of the family had suffered from several ailments and is still not in the best of health. Her 5 children, from ages 10 to 18, have been diligently taking care of her during this difficult time.

E.R. Rowe, Sr. #374 and Gainesville #41 combined efforts and provided the funds to cover the family’s power bill, which had accumulated over the last several months. Several brothers generously donated to fund the payment of the bill.

Gainesville #41 provided some funds to purchase gift certificates for the children so the parents could buy clothing and other individual necessities. The family was also provided a gift certificate to purchase household items such as pots & pans, new drinking glasses, etc.

Worshipful Matthew Donovan, of Gainesville #41, delivered the gifts (paid GRU bill, the gift certificates, and some other collected donations) on Christmas Eve.

The family was very appreciative of both lodge’s efforts…and their smiles showed it.

Great job to all those brothers and to both lodges. While giving can sometimes be hard, it is the right thing to do and in this Christmas season, E.R. Rowe, Sr. #374 and Gainesville #41 have done the right thing.
